A food distribution business thirty years old, supplying institutional customers, trading at around S$20m a year. The owner was retiring.
Institutional distribution is bought for the customer book and the operational reliability behind it. Buyers look hard at how contracted the volumes are, how concentrated the customers are, and whether the relationships sit with the company or with the person about to leave.
The buyer was an overseas corporate acquirer, and completion came twelve months after mandate. It is the largest of the three F&B transactions we have taken through to completion, and at S$20m revenue it sits toward the upper end of the range we advise on.
